Hi! I am Kimberly and I own Heart Scents Candles.
I started this company in 2020 with my mission being to create pure soy candles and wax melts along with other home fragrances.
As I got older and started to actually read about what chemicals were in the candle products I was purchasing and using, I noticed that many candle companies, big and small, use Paraffin wax. (Paraffin wax described below) This is also why so many are so inexpensive to buy. I was shocked! I love candles and no longer wanted to burn paraffin wax.
After a lot of research, I decided to make my own candles with soy wax so that I would feel better about burning candles / wax melts around my friends and family (especially my adorable grandchildren).
After much trial and tribulation, I realized that I could make some amazing smelling and looking candles, I thought I could reach out to other people and enlighten them on the difference between paraffin and soy wax candles while they enjoyed their favorite scents.
I care about the ingredients in my products so you don't have to!!!
The soy wax I use is 100% soy wax, vegan friendly, Kosher-certified and FDA approved. In addition, I use flat braided cotton wicks with paper threads woven into the cotton. My wicks are also lead free.
The company I get my most of my fragrance oils from are in the process of having all body safe fragrance oils. You may already be familiar with phthalates, but they also exclude materials with similar health concerns, including those on California’s Prop 65 list. Materials known to be carcinogens in California aren’t any safer elsewhere! So therefore, most of my fragrance oils are body safe and I am hoping to be using all body safe fragrances someday soon. It is noted in the description sections if they are "Clean" oils from this line.
Our products are 100% free of harmful Paraffin wax.
My candles and wax melts are hand-poured in Wisconsin.
I hope you enjoy our candles, wax melts and other products as much as I do!
Thank you for supporting my small business.
Why use Soy Wax?
* Soy wax is derived from a vegetable, (soybeans), while paraffin wax is derived from petroleum (a refined a gasoline product).
* Soy is a renewable resource and is farmed right here in the USA.
* Soy wax is biodegradable and cleans up with plain old soap and water.
* Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax and because of this, soy candles will
burn slower or longer than paraffin candles.
* Soy wax burns with zero black soot. Paraffin candles burn with black soot.
Why NOT to use Paraffin wax:
Paraffin wax is widely utilized by a lot of other candle companies because it is much cheaper to produce candles / melts. Paraffin wax is known to cause momentary eye/skin irritations and persistent health problems to humans, such as cancer, and can be dangerous for pets as well.
